The original wireless sensor cart 

The Smart Cart (patent pending) is the ultimate tool for studying kinematics, dynamics, Newton's Laws and more. It is based on a durable ABS body with nearly frictionless wheels just like our high quality PAScars. But now we've added built-in sensors that measure force, position, velocity, and 6 degrees of freedom in acceleration. And the Smart Cart can make these measurements on or off a dynamics track and transmit the data wirelessly over Bluetooth®.  In essence it is a wireless dynamics cart that combines all the necessary sensors and doesn't require any additional hardware.

Smart Carts are ideal for studying mechanics (both kinematics and dynamics) and more. For instance, the built-in load cells make a pair of Smart Carts an easy way to visually demonstrate Newton's 3rd Law. And with measurements of both Force and Acceleration, Newton's 2nd Law can be investigated in minutes with no other equipment required. Smart Carts truly are a physics lab on wheels.

Bluetooth 4 Connectivity

Required Software:

PASCO products that use Bluetooth® 4 technology - wireless sensors, smart carts, and the AirLink Interface - require the latest versions of our software.

PASCO Capstone is available for Mac and Windows. SPARKvue  is available for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and Chromebooks.

Additionally, the Wireless Motion Sensor and Wireless Smart Carts can be connected via Bluetooth and used with our MatchGraph! app.

Compatibility/System requirements

Any current model Chromebook, Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android tablet or Android phone will support direct connection to PASCO Bluetooth 4 devices. Also, any Windows 10 device w/ Creators Edition 1703 or later will support direct connection.

Chromebook users MUST have the latest firmware updates for ALL wireless sensors in order to use them without the USB Bluetooth Adapter. Full information.

All other windows computers/tablets, older Macs, and Chromebook users without updated sensor firmware currently require the PS-3500 USB Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter to connect to PASCO’s Bluetooth 4 devices.

MatchGraph Software

MatchGraph 2.0 adds support for Smart Carts. Download the free software or app for Mac, Windows, iOS or Android and engage students in a fun and simple graph matching challenge. MatchGraph is ideal for helping students to internalize the concept of slope/rate-of-change and the fundamentals of motion graphs, both position vs time and velocity vs time.

Smart Fan Accessory

The new Smart Fan Accessory works with all PASCO Dynamic Carts but adds new features and functionality when connected to a Smart Cart. Use PASCO Capstone software to wirelessly adjust the level of thrust, set start/stop conditions, or use calculations for precise control of the fan.

USB Bluetooth Adapter

Windows devices, Chromebooks and older Macs lack native Bluetooth® Smart support and require an adapter to use PASCO wireless products.

All current model Macs, iPads, iPhones, Android tablets or phones support direct connection to PASCO Bluetooth Smart devices and do not require the adapter.

The Smart Fan Accessory offers push button control and three speeds for use with any PASCO cart.  But when connected to a Smart Cart it can be controlled using SPARKvue or Capstone software for an unprecedented level of functionality.

The Smart Cart Rod Stand Adapter allows the Smart Cart to be suspended from a rod stand (mounted either vertically or to a horizontal cross rod) in order to use it's built-in load cell to measure downward forces such as weight or the oscillation of a mass on a spring.

The Smart Carts boast remarkable battery life between charges. But when they need to be topped off, park up to 5 Smart Carts in the Smart Cart Charging Garage.
