Exporting Data from the Xplorer GLX to Google Earth

Problem/Symptom:
Exporting Data from the Xplorer GLX to Google Earth

PASCO Solution:
  1. Make sure that you have updated the firmware on the GLX to version 1.4.6 or later.
  2. Turn on the PS-2002 Xplorer GLX.
  3. Open the file containing the GPS data that you wish to export to Google Earth.
  4. Connect a USB FLASH drive to the USB A port on the GLX.
  5. Open the file with the data that you wish to import into Google Earth, if it is not already open.
    1. In the GLX, go to Home/Data Files.
    2. Using the up and down arrow keys to select the file .
    3. Press F1 to open the data file.
  6. Press the Home/F2 to open the Table.
  7. Populate the table with all of the columns of data that you wish to export. (Include the (absolute) latitude and (absolute) longitude in the first two columns. Do not include the relative latitude and longitude or your data will appear in Africa.)
  8. Press the Tables button.
  9. Select Export All Data.
  10. If you choose to rename the file you are about to export, do not delete the .txt extension.
  11. Change the Export File Format to KML.
  12. Click OK (F1) to export to the flash drive.
  13. Plug the flash drive into an available USB port on your computer.
  14. Double-click on the KML file on the flash drive.
  15. When the file opens in Google Earth you will see the path, but only a few way points. To see all of the way points, expand the time slider at the top of the map.
  16. Click on any way point to see the measured values associated with that point.
