Tech Note 533 Detail

Xplorer GLX will not start.

Affected Products:

PS-2002 Xplorer GLX

Problem/Symptom:
Xplorer GLX will not turn on.

PASCO Solution:
  1. Connect a working power adapter to the GLX. (The power adapter should be outputting 12-15 Volts DC between the inner and outer conductors.)
  2. Connect the power adapter to a working power outlet.
  3. Remove all sensors and cables from the GLX.
  4. Using a paper clip or pen, momentarily press the reset button on the back of the GLX:

  5. Depress the ON button until the green LED flashes or for up to three seconds.
  6. If the LED does not flash after three seconds, then the unit should be repaired/replaced.
  7. If the LED flashes, but the GLX screen is still not visible, check that the contrast is appropriately set:
    1. Hold down the Home button.
    2. Press the up arrow key until either the screen is visible or as many as 40 times.
    3. If the display is still not visible, hold down the home button and press the down arrow either until the screen is visible or as many as 40 times.
  8. If you have a working GLX with a well-charged battery, unplug the unit and replace the battery with the one from the working unit.
  9. If this fixes the problem, then either the battery pack needs to be replaced or the unit is not charging the battery correctly. See Tech Note 1071 - GLX Battery Check to determine which is the case.
