CI-6500 Software with Windows95

Affected Products:

Is it possible to run the CI-6500 software under Windows95?

PASCO Solution:
While we do sell Data Monitor for Windows software (part number SV-7412), it is possible to run the DOS programs successfully in a Windows environment.

Most DOS based programs (like Smart Pulley Timer, Precision Timer and others), may be successfully run in a Windows environment. However, you will need to prevent Windows from interfering with the programs while they are running.

To do this in Windows 95:
  1. From the program files select the batch file. For example, for the Smart Pulley Timer program the batch file is Spt.bat.
  2. Right click the icon for the batch file and select "Properties" from the menu. The properties window has several tabs along the top.
  3. Select the "Program" tab.
  4. Click on "Advanced".
  5. Select (check) "Prevent MS-DOS-based programs from detecting Windows".
  6. Click "OK"
  7. Select the "Misc" tab.
  8. Deselect "Allow screen saver" and "Always suspend" (no check).
  9. Click "OK"
  10. Close the properties window.
  11. Run and specify the correct graphics and printing settings for the program.
  12. Create a shortcut to the batch file. (Right click on screen choose new shortcut and point to batch file)
  13. Place the shortcut in the desired location.
When you click on the shortcut now it will open the program full screen as its own entity. You will not be able to do other things while the program is running, but the timing should work correctly.
