Product Summary
This experiment explores the dependence of the period of a simple pendulum on the amplitude of the oscillation. Also, the displacement, velocity, and acceleration for large amplitude are plotted vs. time to show the difference from the sinusoidal motion of low amplitude oscillations.
The period is measured as a function of the amplitude of the pendulum and compared to theory.
Concepts
- Low amplitude approximation for the pendulum period
- Large amplitude period
- Shape of displacement, velocity, and acceleration curves for large amplitude
