The Agricultural Science Starter Lab Station makes it easy and affordable to begin using sensor-based technology in your classroom or home. Inside the Starter Lab Station are the wireless sensors used to perform 10 agriculture labs. Using these 10 lab printouts, students can investigate soil and water quality, greenhouse gases, cellular processes of diffusion in plants, respiration and photosynthesis. Students will also work to extract and separate pigments from leaves, determine the energy content stored in plant-based food materials, and model ecosystems using factors that create challenging and optimal growing conditions. All 13 labs are accessible from PASCO's Teacher Resource Center and are available to those who establish a login. Available separately is the Agricultural Science Extension Lab Station (EB-6335) which, when combined with the Agricultural Starter Lab Station, comprises all the wireless sensors used to perform the 13 labs in the complete Agricultural Science manual.
Components of the Starter Lab Station
Wireless Sensors: PASCO's rugged, low-cost wireless sensors connect directly to computers, Chromebooks, tablets, and mobile devices to allow students to quickly collect data, leaving more time for analyzing and interpreting data. This lab station includes:

Gratnells Storage Tray: Every Starter Lab Station includes a Gratnells storage tray with a custom-cut insert that's designed to fit each sensor and accessory securely. These trays provide a convenient and well-ordered storage solution for any classroom, while also making transportation between classrooms effortless. The custom storage insert also includes spaces for each sensor from the Agricultural Science Extension Lab Station, which can be purchased separately.
Digital Access to Lab Activities: Included with the Starter Lab Station is digital access to:
- PASCO's Agricultural Science manual. This lab manual includes 13 labs that investigate soil and water quality, water treatment, plants' cellular processes of diffusion, respiration and photosynthesis, modeling an ecosystem for optimal growth, studying greenhouse gases, determine the energy content stored in foods. Each lab activity includes editable student handouts and various teacher resources, including answer keys and sample data.
Printed Samples of Student Handouts: 10 of the 13 student lab activity handouts from the Agricultural Science manual are printed, bound in a booklet, and included in the lab station for your convenience.
Distance Learning Resources: The 10 labs found in the Printed Samples Booklet also include digital resources to support distance learning for students working at home. These resources include live video recordings of data collection and sample data files that students can use to perform their own analyses.
The Agricultural Science Printed Samples Booklet includes 10 lab activities that integrate PASCO sensors and equipment for an engaging year of Agricultural or Environmental science. The full set of lessons are accessible via a Pasco.com user login.
