Features 29 inquiry based labs designed for elementary students and coordinated with the standards for life, earth and physical sciences.

Near and Far

Lab Summary

Use a force sensor to describe the position of an object as being near or far from another object and to recognize that an object in motion changes its position.

Method

To understand this content, students:

  • Observe the movement of objects and classmates.
  • Describe the location of objects and classmates relative to other objects, such as a reference point or the motion sensor.

Sensors / Equipment Used:

PASPORT Motion Sensor

(PS-2103A)

The PASPORT Motion Sensor accurately measures position, velocity, and acceleration of a target. Can be used to track the motion of carts, balls, people and more.

Materials Used:

Large playground ball
Meter stick

The Associated Bundle:

Elementary School Science Standard Sensor Bundle

(PS-2934)

This bundle contains the probeware needed to perform all 25 lab activities in the Elementary School Introductory Science Experiments.

Interface Required

This experiment may require software and an interface for data collection.
