This unique system has curved track that allows your students to build hills and valleys for Conservations of Energy experiments.
Data is collected using the sensors onboard the Smart Cart. Unlike when Motion Sensors are used to track the cart, the Smart Cart does not have to be in the direct line of sight of the sensor so it can go over hills. And the Smart Cart is wireless so no extra friction is introduced.
The curved and straight track pieces can be combined to form a step such that the cart starts out on a nearly level upper section, travels down the ramp and ends on a level straight section. This make measuring the change in height very easy.
During the experiments the mass of the cart can easily be varied to see what effect, if any, it has on the results.
Another possible configuration is creating a well so the cart oscillates back-and-forth, streaming position, velocity and acceleration data directly to your devices the entire time.
This versatile system can also be used for regular dynamics experiments such as impulse, collisions, Newton's Second Law and much more.
PASCO products that use Bluetooth® 4 technology - wireless sensors, smart carts, and the AirLink Interface - require the latest versions of our software. PASCO Capstone 1.10.1 is available for Mac and Windows. SPARKvue 3.0.1 is available for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and Chromebooks.
Any current model Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android tablet or Android phone will support direct connection to PASCO Bluetooth 4 devices. Also, any Windows 10 device w/ Creators Ediction 1703 or later will support direct connection.
All other windows computers/tablets, all Chromebooks and older Macs currently require the PS-3500 USB Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter to connect to PASCO’s Bluetooth 4 devices.
