Capstone files appear with a different icon than Capstone on Windows

Fix file type assignment in which Capstone files open another application

If you find that your Capstone files become associated with another app (open a different app than Capstone when double clicked). the following instructions provide a path to reassign PASCO Capstone to open .cap files.

  1. Right click on the Capstone file that has the wrong icon type appearing.
  2. Select Open with
  3. Select Choose another app
  4. Select PASCO Capstone
  5. If PASCO Capstone does not appear in the list, select  More apps
  6. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\PASCO scientific if you have installed the 32 bit version of Capstone or C:\Program Files\PASCO scientific if you have installed the 64 bit version of Capstone
  7. Open the Capstone folder and click on the icon for Capstone (the pyramid).

This will open the file that you originally right clicked with Capstone.

 

Next,

  1. Click on the Windows icon
  2. Click on the gear for Settings
  3. Select Apps
  4. Select Default Apps
  5. Scroll past the default apps and click on Choose default apps by file type
  6. After waiting 1-2 minutes for the list to populate, scroll down the list to .cap
  7. Click on the app that appears to the right of the .cap extension
  8. Select PASCO scientific Capstone from the list
  9. All Capstone files should now open Capstone when double clicked.
