Differences in Pairing PS-2600 and PS-2600A to Spectrometry software

How pairing of PS-2600 and PS-2600A Spectrometers differs.

The PS-2600 model of the Wireless spectrometer and the new PS-2600A pair wirelessly to the Spectrometer software differently.  To use the PS-2600A, Spectrometry software version 2.5.0 or later must be used.  Updated software can be found at the following link.

The PS-2600 Wireless Spectrometer pairs to computing devices through a Bluetooth 2.0 protocol.  This requires pairing the spectrometer to the computing device prior to pairing it within the Spectrometry software.

Connecting the Wireless Spectrometer to a Tablet or Computer via Bluetooth

  1. Turn on the spectrometer, and briefly hold the ON/OFF button on the back. After all three status LEDs blink in sequence, release the ON/OFF button. The Bluetooth Status LED will blink blue.
  2. Pair/connect through Bluetooth to your computing device. This step will depend on your computing device and operating system. The Bluetooth Status LED will shine blue.
  3. Start the Spectrometry software. (Refer to the Spectrometry Software User Guide at the PASCO web page: https://help.pasco.com/spectrometry under Resources.)
  4. If the wireless Spectrometer is not found, select Choose Wireless Device.
  5. In the Menu, select the Wireless Spectrometer with the Device ID # that matches the Device ID # on the bottom of the device.

The PS-2600A Wireless Spectrometer pairs to computing devices through a Bluetooth 4.X protocol.  This requires pairing the spectrometer only through the Spectrometry software.

  1. Location services must be turned on for your device.  For Chromebooks, this must be done through the Android Preferences.
  2. Turn on the Wireless Spectrometer. All three status LEDs should blink in sequence as the device powers on.
  3. Start the Spectrometry software and select Choose Wireless Interface when prompted. In the Select Wireless Interface menu, select the Wireless Spectrometer with a device ID number that matches the number printed on the side of your device.
