PASCO Lithium Batteries

Lithium batteries contained in PASCO equipment are small (less than 30 Wh) and are not considered dangerous during normal use.

Lithium batteries contained in PASCO products are fully tested to the UN 38.3 standard to ensure the safety of the lithium batteries.

Li-Poly Chemistry: Nearly all rechargeable lithium batteries installed into PASCO products are defined as “Lithium Polymer” which is a kind of rechargeable battery that uses a polymer gel electrolyte instead of a liquid electrolyte. This choice is considered better in terms of safety.

Disclaimer

Based on the size, chemistry, and design, the batteries referenced herein are considered exempt articles and are not subject to the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. Therefore, a SDS (Safety Data Sheet) is not required. Risk of exposure occurs only if a battery is mechanically, thermally, or electrically abused, which may result in rapid heat release, and the release of flammable vapors.

PASCO recognizes the value of SDS sheets in cases where batteries are damaged, especially during shipping, repair, and recycling operations.  Thus, SDS documents are provided as a service to our customers.

See the following links for Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Additional SDS documents may be found in PASCO's Product Catalog for individual products that utilize lithium batteries.
