Resonance Modes in a Vibrating String
Students measure the frequency of a vibrating sonometer string using a wireless sound sensor and FFT display. They investigate the relationship between tension in the string and the frequency while keeping the wavelength and linear mass density constant. They investigate the effect of linear mass density by comparing the frequency of the 2 strings with the same tension and wavelength. They use their data to find the linear mass density of the string and predict the length needed for a prescribed
