Tools palette

Get an overview on how to use each tool in the Tools palette.

Note

Not all of the tools appear on the palette by default. Some tools remain hidden until you connect the hardware that uses the tool or click Show or Hide Tools to select which tools are visible.

Tip

Click ✕ to hide the palette. Click ⠇to make the palette visible again.

Tools Palette

  1. Hardware Setup

    Connect and configure sensors and interfaces.

  2. Timer Setup

    Create timers for photogates and other timing devices.

  3. Data Summary

    Manage experiment data and data properties.

  4. Calibration

    Calibrate sensor measurements.

  5. Calculator

    Define new data sets as functions of measurements and other data.

  6. Signal Generator

    Control the signal output on the 550 Interface, 750 Interface, 850 Interface, Wireless AC/DC Module, and Function Generator.

  7. Digital Output

    Specify behavior for the expansion port inputs and output on the 850 Interface.

  8. Curve Fit Editor

    Edit curve fits created in Graph displays.

  9. Smart Fan

    Control the thrust and direction of a Smart Fan Accessory attached to a Smart Cart.

  10. Smart Motor

    Control the speed and direction of a Smart Cart Motor attached to a Smart Cart.

  11. Vector Display

    Change the measurement displayed on a Smart Cart Vector Display and configure the range and sign of the measurement.

  12. Ballistic Cart

    Launch a projectile from the Smart Ballistic Cart Accessory by setting a position or time based trigger.

  13. Code

    Create programs with the Code Tool using Blockly to control outputs using sensor measurements.

  14. Melting Point

    Set up a heating profile for the Wireless Melting Point Apparatus (ME-3239) and control various features of the apparatus's operation.

  15. Geiger Counter

    Control the high voltage supplied to the Wireless Geiger Counter's Geiger–Müller tube.
