Tech Note 56 Detail

700 interface does not power on

Affected Products:

The green power light does not illuminate when I plug in and turn on the 700 interface.

PASCO Solution:
  1. Check that the power switch on the back of the interface is on.
  2. Replace the fuse inside the ScienceWorkshop 700 interface:
    1. Disconnect the power cord and SCSI cable from the interface.
    2. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the fuse tray that is located directly below where the power cord plugs into the interface.
    3. (The outer-most fuse in the tray is a spare.) Replace the innermost fuse with the spare.
    4. Close the fuse tray.
    5. Plug the SCSI cable into the SCSI port on the computer. WARNING: Do not plug the SCSI cable into the physically-identical 25-pin parallel port. To distinguish between a SCSI port and a parallel port, note that the parallel port will have a symbol of a printer next to it and generally not require an add-in card; whereas, the SCSI port will generally be on the back of an add-on card and never have an icon of a printer.
    6. Plug the power cord into the outlet and into the interface.
    7. Turn the ScienceWorkshop 700 interface switch on.
  3. If the green light on the interface still does not turn on, please contact Technical Support to return the interface for repair.
