Tech Note 482 Detail

Functions of the form y = f(x,n) do not function in DataStudio.

Affected Products:

CI-6870 DataStudio Software (Single User)

Problem/Symptom:
Functions of the form y = f(x,n) do not function in DataStudio.

PASCO Solution:

DataStudio 1.9.x misinterprets the comma acting as a parameter delimiter as a decimal symbol when the Decimal Symbol in the Regional Options of Windows is set to a comma.

Workaround 1

Alternatively, use the ";" (semicolon) instead of the "," (comma) as an argument separator in all functions of two variables.

Example: "y =smooth (4, x)" should be typed as "y = smooth(4; x)".

Workaround 2

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Select Regional and Language Options.
  4. Click the Customize button on the Regional Options tab.
  5. Type a "." (period) or ";" (semicolon) for the decimal symbol.
  6. Click OK.
