PASPort Interface undetected on a Windows PC

Problem/Symptom:
A PASPort interface is not detected by Capstone, SPARKvue or DataStudio on a Windows computer.

PASCO Solution:
  1. Check that your computer has a supported version of Windows installed:
    • SPARKvue
      • Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)
      • Windows 8 (32-bit or 64-bit)
      • Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
    • Capstone
      • Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)
      • Windows 8 (32-bit or 64-bit)
      • Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
    • DataStudio:
      • NOTE: DataStudio is considered obsolete as of 2011. Customers should begin transition to SPARKvue or Capstone
      • Windows XP (Service Pack 2+)
      • Windows Vista Service Pack 1
      • Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  2. Log into the computer as an administrator account
  3. Update your software to the latest released version:
  • Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 Users:
    1. Type Device Manager in the Search box. (It should appear as the first search result.)
    2. Click on Device Manager in the search results.
    3. Navigate to Pasco interface class
    4. Locate the interface:
      • PS-2100A: PASPORT USB Link.
      • PS-2000: PASPORT XPlorer
      • PS-2001: PASPORT PowerLink
      • PS-2002: PASPORT XPlorer GLX
      • PS-2008(A) SPARK SLS will appear as PASPORT USBLink
      • PS-2009(A) SPARKLink will appear as PASPORT USBLink
      • PS-2011 SPARKLink Air will appear as PASPORT USBLink (make sure this device is powered on & the green USB indicator is lit)
      • PS-3200 AirLink will appear as PASPORT USBLink
      • UI-5001 550 Interface will appear as PASPORT USBLink
      • UI-5000 850 Interface will appear as PASPORT USBLink
    5. Right-click on the interface and select Update Driver.
    6. Select the Install from a list or specific location check box.
    7. Select Browse my computer for updated software.
    8. Select Search for driver software in this location:
      1. For 32 bit systems: C:\Program Files\PASCO scientific\Common Files\PascoUsbDriver\x86
      2. For 64 bit systems: C:\Program Files(x86)\ PASCO scientific\Common Files\PascoUsbDriver\amd64
    9. Click Next >. (The driver should be located and installed.)
  • Rerun the data acquisition software.
  • If you still have problems, switch USB ports, or, if you have only one USB port, unplug and replug the PASPort interface from the same port.
  • If the USB interface is not detected by any of the computer's internal USB ports, try using an externally powered USB hub, such as the PS-2501.
