Tech Note 27 Detail

Measuring over the 10V limit

Affected Products:

CI-6500 NOT A VALID PART NUMBER
CI-6400 ScienceWorkshop 500 Interface
CI-6450 ScienceWorkshop 750 with SCSI Interface

Problem/Symptom:
Using the CI-6500 interface to measure over the 10 V limit

PASCO Solution:

To measure up to 30 V on the analog input, use a limiting circuit to prevent the box itself from actually seeing over 10 V. Use Zener diodes and a resistor to create a Zener voltage divider. The readings at the box will be proportional to the input voltage up to ~ 9.3 V.
