Tech Note 1307 Detail

Procedures to use Wireless sensors with Chromebooks

Affected Products:

PS-3500 USB Bluetooth Adapter

Problem/Symptom:
Chromebook will not connect to BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) sensors.

PASCO Solution:

Users that have build 54 for the Chrome OS, should update to version 54.0.2840.101 or above. The version Chromebook OS just prior to this build had created a conflict with the use of the PS-3500 Bluetooth Adapter for use with the wireless sensors and the Chromebook. If your Chromebook has not already been updated to version 54.0.2840.101, updating to this version of later should resolve the connectivity issues.

Install updates

Your Chromebook automatically downloads software updates when it's turned on and connected to Wi-Fi. After an update is downloaded, you need to install it.

To install an update:

  1. Look in the status area, where your account picture appears, for the Update icon Update. This icon shows up only when an update is ready.
  2. Click Update Update>Restart to update.

Check for updates yourself

To check for and install updates before the next automatic update:

  1. Click the status area, where your account picture appears.
  2. Click Settings >About Chrome OS.
  3. In the "About" window that appears, click Check for and apply updates. Your Chromebook will start to install any available updates.
  4. After the updates are installed, click Restart to update.

To confirm that your Chromebook is up to date, you can check the "About" window.
