Requirements

A Windows (98, XP, Vista, 7) PC or MacOS (9.x, 10.x) with a compatible microphone, such as the SE-6851 Labtec Verse-704 USB Microphone, and speakers.

Installation

  1. Install the latest version of DataStudio.
  2. Run DataStudio.
  3. When you run DataStudio for the first time, you will be prompted for a license key.
    1. If you did not purchase a license for DataStudio, click the button that says, “Enter DataStudio Lite Key”.
    2. Click Apply and close the window.
    3. Go to the Help/Change License Key… window in DataStudio.
    4. Click WAVEPORT, enter the serial number and license key, and click Apply and Close.
  4. If prompted with "How would you like to use DataStudio?", select Create Experiment.
  5. Go to Help / Change License Key window.
  6. Click on WavePort, enter your license information from you WavePort registration card, and click Apply and Close.
  7. Click the Setup button.
  8. In the Setup window, select Choose Interface...
  9. Select WAVEPORT Sound Capture and click OK.

Use

To view sound waves in the oscilloscope and the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) display:

  1. Double click on Sound Analyzer in the Displays Window.
  2. Either click Start or the microphone icon to begin recording data.

To generate sounds:

  1. Double click on Sound Creator in the Displays Window
  2. Click the speaker icon in the Sound Creator window to begin generating sounds.
  3. Use the hand icons in the Sound Creator window to adjust the amplitude and wavelength of the sound waves.
