ME-9279(A) Configuration

Problem/Symptom:
How do I use the ME-9279(A) with DataStudio?

PASCO Solution:

You may use either of the following options to use the ME-9279(A) Rotational Dynamics Apparatus with DataStudio:

ScienceWorkshop 500 or 750 interface

  1. Run DataStudio and select Create Experiment.
  2. Connect the ScienceWorkshop interface to the computer.
  3. Plug in the plug corresponding to the disk that you wish to monitor from the ME-9279(A) Rotational Dynamics Apparatus into Channel A or B of the ScienceWorkshop interface.
  4. Connect the external power adapter to the ME-9279(A) .
  5. Go to the DataStudio Setup window.
  6. Select Choose Interface…
  7. Select the ScienceWorkshop interface that you have physically connected to the computer.
  8. Click OK. (A picture of the ScienceWorkshop interface will appear.)
  9. Click on each of these channels on the virtual ScienceWorkshop 750 interface that appears in the Setup window and select Rotational Dynamics Apparatus.
  10. Drag Angular Position, Angular Velocity, or Angular Acceleration from the Summary/Data window to Graph in the display window in order to view the data.
  11. Click Start.

PS-2159 Digital Adapter + PASPort interface

  1. Run DataStudio and select Create Experiment.
  2. Connect the PASPort interface to a USB port on the computer.
  3. Connect the PS-2159 Digital Adapter to the PASPort interface.
  4. Connect external power adapter to the ME-9279(A) .
  5. Plug in the plug corresponding to the disk that you wish to monitor from the ME-9279(A) Rotational Dynamics Apparatus into either of channels of the PS-2159 Digital Adapter.
  6. You will be prompted to Choose Sensor or Instrument...
  7. Select Smart Pulley (Rotational).
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Setup.
  10. Click the Constants tab.
  11. Enter 1.8 for the "Spoke Angle Spacing" [degrees].
  12. Drag Position, Velocity, or Acceleration from the Summary/Data window to Graph in the display window in order to view the data.
  13. Click Start.
