Installing DataStudio on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10

These procedures may resolve installation issues on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10.This procedure may resolve the issue with the license key not "sticking".

Note: Development for DataStudio ceased in 2011 and DataStudio is now considered obsolete . Please consider one of our newer data acquisition and analysis software applications: our easy-to-use tablet-friendly SPARKvue or our feature-rich, desktop-friendly PASCO Capstone.

NOTE: DataStudio is not officially supported on any Windows OS above Windows XP

DataStudio Software Installation Procedure

  1. Download the final version of DataStudio (1.9.8.10) and save it to your hard drive.
  2. Double click on DS198r10.zip. (You will see a window that shows the contents of the unzipped file.)
  3. Click the Extract All Files button and close the window.)
  4. Right-click on the extracted DataStudio installer, DS198r10.exe, select Run As Administrator, and allow the installation to complete.
  5. Right-click on the DataStudio application icon in the Windows Start Menu and select Run As Administrator.
  6. Enter your DataStudio serial number and license key when prompted.

DataStudio License Key Will Not "Stick"

This problem occurs when DataStudio does not have enough Windows permissions to place the license key into the Windows registry. To resolve:

  1. Right-click on the DataStudio application icon in the Windows Start Menu or on your Desktop and select Run As Administrator.
  2. Enter your DataStudio serial number and license key when prompted.
  3. Close DataStudio
  4. Open DataStudio again. The software should no longer prompt you for the license key.
