How do I use a Smart Gate or photogate to determine the rotational rate of a propeller? By configuring the Smart gate to determine a rotational quantity, and by specifying the angular distance between the blades of the propeller, you can determine the rotational rate of the propeller without impeding the rotation of the device. Care must be taken so that the blades do not come in contact with the Smart gate or photogate.
