Column Buckling and Slenderness Ratio
In this lab, three different lengths of plastic I-beams are tested under compression to investigate their method of failure. The way in which a member fails (buckling or not) is determined by its Slenderness Ratio, which is calculated for each beam. This lab also covers the Radius of Gyration and the Area Moment of Inertia.PreviewDownload
This metric/Imperial digital caliper (15 cm or 6 inch) measures to the nearest 0.01 mm (0.0005 inch). It features automatic power down and it includes a sturdy, protective plastic case.
Structures beam fixture uses structures system I-beams for investigations in tension, compression and bending.
This is the assembly-only version; measures force and displacement for various materials as the materials are stretched, compressed, sheared, or bent.
