Product Summary
In this module, students are challenged with creating a living, model ecosystem using physical and biological components of their choosing. This version is the Teacher License (one license for all your classes) and includes a spiral-bound teacher manual.
To assist students in developing a data-driven design, there are five activities that address conceptual components and skills required to construct a successful model:
- Standardizing Data
- Plant Photosynthesis
- Cellular Respiration in Animals
- Decomposition
- Ecological Accounting
In these activities, students measure the carbon dioxide levels in a closed environment. Then, they calculate the appropriate balance of producers and consumers to build a stable micro-environment. Finally, students will construct and observe their biosphere for several days to validate their design. Various sensors can be added to personalize this experiment's purpose and complexity.
