Elementary School Science Teacher Guide

(PS-2875D)

Features 29 inquiry based labs designed for elementary students and coordinated with the standards for life, earth and physical sciences.

Light and Dark

Lab Summary

Use a light sensor to determine how light is related to what students see.

Method

To understand this content, students:

  • Observe how the presence and absence of light affects what they see.
  • Observe the level of light from a light source versus the light reflected from a surface.

Sensors / Equipment Used:

PASPORT Temperature/Sound Level/Light Sensor

(PS-2140)

Allows students to conduct all three measurements simultaneously and continuously. For use with PASPORT Interfaces.

PASPORT Sensor Extension Cable

(PS-2500)

Allows an additional two meter length extension on all PASPORT sensors.

Materials Used:

Strips of construction paper, 3 cm × 8 cm (1 in. × 3 in.), different colors or colored wooden craft sticks

The Associated Bundle:

Elementary School Science Standard Sensor Bundle

(PS-2934)

This bundle contains the probeware needed to perform all 25 lab activities in the Elementary School Introductory Science Experiments.

Interface Required

This experiment may require software and an interface for data collection.
