(PS-2875D)

Features 29 inquiry based labs designed for elementary students and coordinated with the standards for life, earth and physical sciences.

Hot and Cold

Lab Summary

Use a temperature sensor to observe the property of temperature, and that this property can be measured using a thermometer or temperature sensor.

Method

  • To understand this content, students:
  • Observe the temperature of different objects.
  • Classify materials as cold or hot.

Sensors / Equipment Used:

PASPORT Temperature/Sound Level/Light Sensor

(PS-2140)

Allows students to conduct all three measurements simultaneously and continuously. For use with PASPORT Interfaces.

Materials Used:

Buckets or containers for ice cubes and bottles - 2
Towels - Several
Ice cubes - Several
Plastic water or soda bottles filled with warm water (no warmer than 30 °C or 86 °F), tightly capped - Several

The Associated Bundle:

Elementary School Science Standard Sensor Bundle

(PS-2934)

This bundle contains the probeware needed to perform all 25 lab activities in the Elementary School Introductory Science Experiments.
