Essential Physics Modules

A STEM based approach to physics and engineering concepts

Essential Physics Teacher Guides provide a unique hands-on STEM approach for physical science, physics and engineering at the high school level. These solutions are comprised of a comprehensive Teacher Guide with all the student activities, lesson plans, simulations and more as well as all the equipment needed to perform the activities.

The available modules are:

  • Programming and Robotics
  • Motion and Robotics
  • Forces and Motion
  • Oscillations, Waves and Sound
  • Light, Color, and Optics

Use the modules separately or combine them to create a complete curriculum.

Note: Also available is the Essential Physics Textbook -  a modern approach to physics education. This program is based around a revolutionary e-Book and optional integrated equipment to create a complete program.

About the solutions

The Essential Physics approach for STEM is that Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics should be integral to how we teach Science. Why not learn about engineering by using robot navigation as a context for learning vectors? Why not learn about light by actually using the RGB model to make different colors, or use a lens to make an image? STEM should simply be a more engaging way to approach science by providing context and application for everything as students learn.

Programming and Robotics

There are very few skills as valuable and as in demand in today's world as programming.  When combined with the cutting edge technology of robotics it becomes a very exciting and engaging way to teach students a myriad of science and technology skills.

The ErgoBot and Arduino compatible ErgoBoard form a powerful but easy to use platform that works wirelessly with phones, tablets or computers.  No assembly is required and all the projects start from novice level.

The Teacher's Guide includes 23 projects with lessons, slides, and a wealth of instructional material.

Forces + Machines

Forces + Machines

The Forces and Machines Kit engages students in a wide range of physics, physical science, and engineering concepts. Two triple-pulley blocks make it easy to build machines with mechanical advantage up to 6:1. Build all three classes of levers with our pair of 20-cm levers, or combine gears, levers, and pulleys together to show how rotating machines work.
