Sample Lesson: Constant Acceleration Kinematics
In investigation 4A, the Instructors collect velocity and acceleration data for a cart rolling down a ramp, and a cart rolling up, stopping, and rolling back down a ramp. Students use the analysis tools in SPARKvue to explore and learn about the relationship between the slope of a velocity graph and acceleration. They use the acceleration and elapsed time to find the final velocity and compare it to the velocity measured during the investigation. In investigation 4B, position and velocity data are collected for a cart projected up a ramp by a spring loaded plunger. Students use the analysis tools in SPARKvue to explore and learn about the relationship between the area under a velocity graph and the displacement. Then, they test their conclusion by analyzing two non-uniform motion examples.
