Wireless Rotary Motion Sensor - PS-3220

PS3220_MAIN.jpg

Overview

The versatility of the Wireless Rotary Motion sensor allows it to be used in a wide range of physics experiments. Typically, it is used in mechanics to study the rotation of rigid objects. When used in combination with PASCO physics apparatus, this sensor also finds applications in studying advanced dynamics topics as well as electromagnetism and optics.

The Wireless Rotary Motion Sensor measures rotational kinematics as well as their linear analogues. The included three-step pulley allows different torques to be applied, rotating a rigid system at different rates of acceleration. The included rod mounting holes let you orient the sensor for different experiments. The Wireless Rotary Motion Sensor connects directly to your devices via Bluetooth® or USB.

While the sensor can be connected to your computer or Chromebook via USB for data collection or to charge the battery, the wireless functionality of the Rotary Motion sensor simplifies the experimental laboratory setup. No interface is required for either wired or wireless operation. Just connect and go!

Bluetooth 4 Connectivity

Required Software:

PASCO products that use Bluetooth® 4 technology - wireless sensors, smart carts, and the AirLink Interface - require the latest versions of our software.

PASCO Capstone is available for Mac and Windows. SPARKvue  is available for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and Chromebooks.

Additionally, the Wireless Motion Sensor and Wireless Smart Carts can be connected via Bluetooth and used with our MatchGraph! app.

Compatibility/System requirements

Any current model Chromebook, Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android tablet or Android phone will support direct connection to PASCO Bluetooth 4 devices. Also, any Windows 10 device w/ Creators Edition 1703 or later will support direct connection.

Chromebook users MUST have the latest firmware updates for ALL wireless sensors in order to use them without the USB Bluetooth Adapter. Full information.

All other windows computers/tablets, older Macs, and Chromebook users without updated sensor firmware currently require the PS-3500 USB Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter to connect to PASCO’s Bluetooth 4 devices.

Full compatibility details are available, including compatibility information for older computing devices.

Datalogging

Independent datalogging

Long term data collection directly on the sensor

In logging mode wireless sensors collect data to their onboard memory for hours, days, weeks or even months at a time without needing to be connected to a computer, tablet, Chromebook or smartphone.

When the experiment is concluded, simply connect the sensor to a device running PASCO software and download all the measurements it recorded.
