The 2.2 m Super Dynamics System offers the ability to do more advanced experiments than PASCO's Introductory Dynamics Systems. Providing a wide range of accessories, including Fan Cart, Cart Launcher, Friction Cart Accessory and Mechanical Oscillator/Driver, the Super Dynamics System allows for a more advanced study of linear dynamics. Students can confirm Newton's Laws, investigate acceleration on an inclined plane, collect data on elastic and inelastic collisions, study conservation of energy, and much more.

Sample Experiment 1 - Collisions

PASCO's Dynamics Systems make good experimental data from collisions easy to collect. Carts utilize strong neodymium magnets for elastic collisions and Velcro tabs for inelastic collisions. The aluminum Dynamics Track allows photogates or a Motion Sensor to be attached to measure the motion of the carts before, during and after collisions. DataStudio can be used to create calculations of momentum and kinetic energy for further student analysis.

Sample Experiment 2 - Conservation of Energy

PASCO's Dynamics Systems use high-quality ball-bearing wheels in each cart to minimize frictional forces. The Dynamics Track assures linear motion without adding appreciable friction to the system. Release the cart from a known height and measure the velocity at the bottom of the track. Gravitational energy can then be compared to kinetic energy.

  • Dynamics Track: PASCO's aluminum tracks combine durability with utility. The aluminum extrusion is rigid and light, yet straight. Each track includes a measuring tape for easily measuring displacements along its length. Grooves along the side of the track allow key accessories such as photogates, rod clamps and angle indicators to be attached.
  • Classic Carts: Classic Carts are perfect for studying collision, momentum and impulse. Carts have an extruded aluminum body with a mass of 500 g. Their spring-loaded suspension means wheels retract into the body where they're protected from drops or "skateboarding." The Plunger Cart has a three-position plunger which provides reproducible impulses and explosions. The Collision Cart has a magnet installed for elastic collisions.
  • Included accessories: Include adjustable endstops to vary the effective length of the track, adjustable feet for leveling or angling the track and feet, and an angle indicator. The super pulley with clamp allows for constant acceleration via a falling mass among other uses and the spring set provides the ability to study oscillations. Also included are additional masses and a rod clamp. The Super Dynamics System includes two of the Cart Launchers for increased accuracy and repeatability.

How It Works

Ruggedly constructed and nearly friction-free, the PASCO Classic Dynamics Systems are the industry standard and the centerpiece of any physics laboratory.  On their own or in conjunction with probeware, they are ideal for studying topics from Kinematics, collisions and Conservation of Momentum, Newton's Laws, and Simple Harmonic Motion.

The Super Dynamics System includes several of the most popular accessories for the Classic Dynamics System.  There is a Fan Cart which provides constant velocity at two different settings, the Friction Cart Accessory allowing you to vary the friction of a dynamics cart over a wide range of values, and the Mechanical Oscillator/Driver and power supply for harmonic motion experiments.
