Wireless Current Sensor Module - EM-3534

Overview

The Wireless Current Sensor Module is designed for use with PASCO Modular Circuit sets. It can be placed anywhere in a circuit and provide current measurements at that point.

Measure currents of up to 1 A and transmit the collected data wirelessly to your computers, Chromebooks, tablets or smart phones.

This sensor is included in the Modular Circuits for Essential Physics Set and is an optional accessory for the Basic Modular Circuits Set. In that set a multimeter may be used to collect voltage and current measurements or you can use our Wireless Current Sensor Module and/or our Wireless Voltage Sensor which can be used in conjunction with PASCO software for data collection and analysis, providing a deeper conceptual experience.

Note: Since current can only exist in a complete circuit, the Wireless Current Sensor must be part of that circuit in order to measure current. It is connected in series and has a very low resistance (0.1 Ω). For this reason we do not recommend connecting it directly across a battery or other voltage source without a resistive load.

The sensor includes an Overcurrent Alarm for protection against harmful current levels. The sensor must be turned on for this function to operate.

Special Features

  • Simplicity: just pair and go, no cables and adapters to manage
  • Variable sampling rate for capturing small fast changes or experiments that run for hours, days, or weeks.
  • High speed sampling available via USB connection in "burst mode"
  • Long-lasting rechargeable battery.
  • Logs current data directly onto the sensor for long-term experiments.

Bluetooth 4 Connectivity

Required Software:

PASCO products that use Bluetooth® 4 technology - wireless sensors, smart carts, and the AirLink Interface - require the latest versions of our software. PASCO Capstone 1.10.1 is available for Mac and Windows. SPARKvue 3.0.1 is available for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and Chromebooks.

Compatibility/System requirements

Any current model Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android tablet or Android phone will support direct connection to PASCO Bluetooth 4 devices. Also, any Windows 10 device w/ Creators Ediction 1703 or later will support direct connection.

All other windows computers/tablets, all Chromebooks and older Macs currently require the PS-3500 USB Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter to connect to PASCO’s Bluetooth 4 devices.

Full compatibility details are available, including compatibility information for older computing devices.
