DALLAS, May 9, 2012—Laying the Foundation (LTF), a teacher professional development program, and PASCO scientific, a global leader in technology-based solutions for science, have signed a partnership together with the goal of improving science education. The partnership will allow these two market-leading organizations to collaborate on creating new and innovative content and teacher training.
PASCO and LTF enter this partnership with their sights set on creating new, innovative teaching content that will be used for teacher training and for classroom instruction. “By collaborating on the creation of classroom-ready lessons, labs, activities, and teacher training materials, this partnership will give science educators access to the very best content available,” said Jared Brueckner, VP of business development at LTF. “The training materials created will provide the ’what’ for teachers, and the resources, when coupled with PASCO’s technology-driven equipment, will give teachers the ’how.’ This will ensure that teachers have everything they need to improve science education for students.”
Broader goals of this partnership include increasing students’ interest in STEM subjects, and, by extension, increasing the number of students entering STEM fields in college and beyond. The use of technology is an important component of this effort, and both PASCO and LTF are working diligently to utilize the latest technology available in their efforts, including producing open source lessons that can be used on mobile devices.
