SPARKvue from PASCO Scientific is a Finalist in the 2017 SIIA CODiE Awards for Best Science Instructional Solution

PASCO’s CODiE Award honor comes just two months after it won the Product Innovation Award for STEM in the International GESS Education Awards

PASCO Scientific, a leader in 21st century science education, today announced that its SPARKvue cross platform data collection and analysis software for science classrooms has been named a finalist in the 2017 SIIA CODiE Awards. In its 34th year, the SIIA CODiE Awards is the software and information industry’s only peer-reviewed awards program recognizing product excellence.

SPARKvue is one of seven finalists in the Best Science Instructional Solution category, one of 34 education technology categories this year, several of which are new or updated to reflect the latest industry trends and business models. Winners will be announced on July 26 at the Education Impact Symposium, hosted by the Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN), a division of SIIA.

Working to answer the call to increase student interest and proficiency in the STEM courses, school districts around the world are turning to technology-based, hands-on, inquiry based solutions like those from PASCO. “We looked carefully at the NGSS and state standards, and used these performance expectations to help us evaluate equipment for our school. We chose PASCO Scientific’s sensors and the SPARKvue software because we knew they’d provide an effective way to engage students in STEM practices,” said Heather K. Harkins, Ph.D., STEM coordinator for the Barrows STEM Academy in Connecticut. “Technology brings excitement to what students are learning. They get enthusiastic about using tools such as the PASCO software, and that gets them actively engaged in their learning.”

Available as a free app for Chromebook, iPad and Android tablets, SPARKvue is a powerful yet easy to use science application that combines rich standards-based content, data collection, visualization, analysis and assessment into one seamless environment. The new expanded framework allows students to perform sensor data analysis – at school or home, with opportunities for student reflection using journal snapshots of work as well as written observations – all with the touch of a finger. Free 60-day trials are available for PC and Mac computers as well.

PASCO has been designing, developing, and supporting innovative teaching and learning solutions for K–12 and higher education since 1964. PASCO’s team of educators, scientists, educational researchers, engineers, and many others is committed to the advancement of STEM education around the world.
