Buoyant Force
In this lab, students use a high-resolution force sensor to measure the buoyant force on a metal cylinder lowered into a fluid and then determine the relationship between the buoyant force on a submerged object and a) its volume and b) the weight of the fluid displaced by the submerged object.

Featured Equipment
Overflow Can
Provides direct volume measurements for materials that displace the liquid for buoyancy experiments.
PASPORT Force Sensor
This sensor measures both pulling and pushing forces up to ±50 N.
Support
Many lab activities can be conducted with our Wireless, PASPORT, or even ScienceWorkshop sensors and equipment. For assistance with substituting compatible instruments, contact PASCO Technical Support. We're here to help.
