GLX Firmware Update Procedure

PASCO Solution:

You can determine the current version of firmware installed on your GLX by pressing Home > Settings > Version (F4).

GLX Firmware Update Procedure Using DataStudio

  1. Install the latest version of DataStudio.
  2. Run DataStudio.
  3. Select Create New Experiment.
  4. Check that your GLX either has a full charge on the battery monitor or is plugged into an external power adapter.
  5. Connect your GLX to an available USB port.
  6. When prompted to update the firmware, select Yes.
  7. If you are still not prompted to upgrade, click Setup, select the Choose Interface button, and select PASPort.
  8. If you are still not prompted to upgrade, unplug the GLX from the computer.
  9. On the GLX, sequentially press ESC + HOME + 1.
  10. Reconnect the GLX to the computer.
  11. If you are still not prompted to upgrade the firmware, run the GLX Simulator, which should be located at C:/Program Files/PASCO scientific/DataStudio/XplorerGLX.exe.
  12. In the simulator, check Show GLX Utilities.
  13. Click the three upgrade buttons:
    • power manager
    • core
    • firmware.
  14. After the GLX firmware update progress bar completes, leave the GLX connected until you get a message to upload the GLX sensor list.
  15. When you get this message, click OK.
  16. Wait for the progress bar to indicate that the sensor list was fully loaded.
  17. Unplug the GLX from the computer.
  18. Turn the GLX off.
  19. Turn the GLX back on.

GLX Firmware Update Procedure Using A Flash Drive

(You must already have firmware 1.40 or later installed in order to update the firmware using a flash drive.)

  1. Download the latest firmware version update from our ftp site.
  2. Unzip the file.
  3. Copy the entire GLXFirmware folder to the root level of a USB flash drive. (It is OK to have other information on the drive.)
  4. When the files appear to have finished copying, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Window's System Tray, which appears in the lower-right corner of your screen.
  5. When the activity indicator on the flash drive turns off, unplug the flash drive from the computer. (The activity indicator is typically a flashing LED.)
  6. Be sure your GLX either has a full charge or connect your GLX to a power adapter.
  7. Plug the USB flash drive into the USB-A connector (large rectangular connector) on the side of the GLX.
  8. Turn on the GLX and wait until the home screen appears.
  9. On the home screen of the GLX, select Data Files.
  10. Press F4.
  11. Select Upgrade GLX Firmware. The GLX will provide status of the update process. Leave the Flash drive connected to the GLX until the GLX reports that the upgrade has been successful.
  12. When prompted to restore the firmware, select "No".
