Xplorer GLX Power Amplifier  (PS-2006)

Use the Xplorer GLX built-in calculator to automatically sweep the output frequency of the Power Amplifier through the desired range.

Graph shows the resonance curves for two different resistance values, with a 100µF capacitor and the 8.2mH coil (without iron core). The theoretical resonance frequency for these values is 176 Hz. Enlarge image

The Xplorer GLX and the Xplorer GLX Power Amplifier together give you the capabilities of a programmable power supply and high-power function generator. With an output up to ±10 V at 1 A, the Power Amplifier is well suited for driving circuits, light bulbs, speakers, string vibrators, motors, and more. The Power Amplifier also functions like a sensor for the Xplorer GLX, providing output voltage, frequency, current and peak current amplitude.

Perform an RLC Resonance lab

Measure the phase shift between the driving voltage and the resulting current in an RLC Circuit, using the Scope Mode of the Xplorer GLX. The Peak Current (amplitude) is graphed as the driving frequency is adjusted from below resonance to above resonance -- all without a computer!

Collecting the data is easier with this solution.

Automatically sweep the output frequency of the Power Amplifier through your specified range---just enter the desired function into the Xplorer GLX's built-in calculator. Example at right shows frequency increased from 20 Hz in steps of 10 Hz each second.
