Experimental Setup:

Please note: Upgrade to the latest Xplorer GLX firmware.

HARDWARE SETUP:


  1. Turn on the GLX.

  2. Connect the GLX to the Motion Sensor.

  3. Move the switch at the top of the Motion Sensor to the Cart icon.
  4. Connect the GLX to the Force Sensor.
  5. Place the Force Sensor horizontally on the lab table and press the ZERO button.
  6. Thread a 20 cm long string through the slot of one Friction Tray. Tie the ends together to make a loop. Repeat for the other trays.


SOFTWARE SETUP:

Follow the instructions below or download "frictionGLX.zip" (4 KB). Unzip the file and download the GLX file "friction.glx" to your GLX via DataStudio.
  1. Press the Home Home button to get to the Home screen.

  2. Press F4 or navigate to the Sensors Sensors Icon.

  3. Use the arrows to select the Motion Sensor.
  4. Change the Sample Rate to 50 as in the picture above.
  5. Make Position "Not Visible" and Velocity "Visible."
  6. Use the arrows to select the Force Sensor.

  7. Change the Sample Rate to 1000.
  8. Make push positive "Not Visible" and pull positive "Visible."
  9. Press the Home Home button to get to the Home screen.
  10. Press F1 or navigate to the Graph Graph icon.

  11. Press F4 and select "Two Graphs."
