Experimental Setup for ScienceWorkshop:
    1. Connect the Interface to the computer and plug a Motion Sensor into Digital Channels 1 and 2 (yellow into 1 and black into 2).

    2. Make certain the switch at the top of the Motion Sensor is set to "Far."

    3. Assemble the Motion Sensor and FlexBase "A" Stand as in the picture to the right.

    4. Move the entire assembly so that the Motion Sensor hangs over the edge of the lab bench.

    5. Turn the dial on the side of the Motion Sensor so that the transducer (gold circle) points downward.

    6. Open the DataStudio Program "droppingball_DS_SW.ds" (see below). Briefly observe the data already in the graphs.

    7. Hold a ball directly beneath the motion sensor.

    8. Simultaneously press the Start ( ) button in DataStudio and drop the ball.

    9. Data collection will occur when the ball is 20 cm away from the motion sensor. It will stop after 3 seconds.

    10. Observe whether the new data is similar to the data already in the graphs. If the data is similar, then continue to the next step. If the data is not similar, then it is possible that the Motion Sensor is detecting objects other than the ball. In this case, slightly turn the dial on the side of the Motion Sensor so that the transducer (gold circle) points away from the table. Repeat the above steps (9-12) until the data is similar to the data already in the graphs.

    11. From the "Experiment" menu, select "Delete all data runs."
