Experimental Setup for PASPORT:
- Connect the tubing of the Absolute Pressure Sensor to the spigot. Connect a PASPORT interface to the USB port of the computer and plug the Absolute Pressure Sensor into the interface.
- Connect the Photogate to the Port 1 of the Photogate Port. Connect a PASPORT interface to the USB port of the computer and plug the Photogate Port into the interface.
- Place the rocket over the 32 cm long PVC tube. (See "Making the Rocket and Launcher" and "Making the Handheld Rocket" - optional.)
- Thread the Photogate Tape from the rocket through the Photogate bracket.
- Fasten the Velcro strip over the Velcro dots.
The following steps are required to "subtract out" the ambient pressure:
- Click here to open the "Stomp Rocket (PP)" DataStudio file:
- Press the START button in DataStudio.
- Allow DataStudio to record several seconds of data.
- Press the STOP button in DataStudio
- Use the Smart Tool to find the ambient absolute pressure.
- In the summary window, double-click the equation "gauge = x -102000." Replace the value of 102000 with the current value of the ambient absolute pressure.
- Press the accept button.
