Experimental Setup for PASPORT sensors using DataStudio:
- Connect the 1st Xplorer to the USB port of the computer.
After it powers up, disconnect it and connect the 2nd Xplorer
in the same manner.
- Disconnect the second Xplorer from the computer. Steps
1 and 2 assure that the Xplorers' internal clocks are
synchronized.
- Connect the Photogate Port to one of the Xplorers and
the Acceleration Sensor to the other Xplorer.
- Place the Rotating Platform on a smooth level surface
and use the adjusting knobs on the base to level the unit
(see photo below).
- Connect the Photogate Head to the base of the platform,
such that the beam will be interrupted by the 3-step pulley
(see photo below).
- Plug the cable of the photogate into the Photogate Port
and place the Xplorer on the table next to the platform.
- Place the Xplorer with the Acceleration Sensor on the
Rotating Platform with the sensor at a radius of 5 cm from
the axis of rotation (see photo below).
- The x-y axis on the front of the sensor indicates the
location of the acceleration-sensing element in the case.
Be sure to align this axis with 5 cm for the first data
run (see photo below).
