Experimental Setup for ScienceWorkshop:

PART 1:

  1. Connect the Interface to the computer and plug a Motion Sensor into Digital Channels 1 and 2 (yellow into 1 and black into 2).

  2. Make sure the switch at the top of the Motion Sensor is set to "Far" or "Narrow."

  3. Slide the Angle Indicator into the slot of the track. Attach the Motion Sensor and the Base and Rod to the track as in the picture above.

  1. Remove the Motion Sensor from the track. Attach it to the lower end of the track as in the picture above.

  2. Fasten down the Super Pulley to the upper end of the track.

  3. Tie one end of a 2 m length of string to the friction block.

  4. Attach the other end of the string to the mass hanger.

  5. Place the string over the groove of the Super Pulley so that the mass hanger hangs from the pulley.

  6. Slide the friction block down the track until the mass hanger is just below the Super Pulley.

  7. Adjust the Super Pulley so that the string is parallel to the track.
