  • For part 1 of the experiment, students must gradually adjust the angle. It is crucial that students adjust the angle in very small increments.

  • Similarly for part 2 of the experiment, students gradually adjust the mass. It is crucial that students adjust the mass in 1 gram increments.

  • Both parts of this lab may be done without the motion sensor. However students would then have to estimate when the block slides with constant velocity. Results will not be as accurate in this method.

  • If the lab is done on two separate days, make certain that students use the same block on both days.
