Experimental Setup for PASPORT:
- Connect the PASPORT interface to the USB port of the computer and plug the Light Sensor into the interface.
- Attach the Light Sensor to the Aperture Bracket by screwing the "skinny post" underneath the Aperture Bracket.
- Attach the Aperture Bracket to the Aperture Bracket Holder as in the picture above. Place this assembly on the Optical Bench.
- Slide the Light Sensor assembly until the front is over the 10 cm mark on the Optical Bench.
- Remove the diffuser from your line source.
- Place the line source over the 0 cm mark of the Optical Bench. Make sure its height is even to the Light Sensor.
- Turn the line source on.
- Turn the dial of the Aperture Bracket to the translucent setting as in the picture above.
- Select the "Candle" setting of the Light Sensor.
- Dim or turn off as many lights as possible in your room. Make sure your line source is on.
- Click the Start button;
the Keep/Stop button will appear in its place.
- Observe the value of the Light Intensity in the Digits Display.
- Beginning from the 10 cm mark move the Light Sensor away from the source until the magnitude of the Light Intensity begins to change.
- Click the Stop button (the red square next to the Keep button).
- From the Experiment Menu, select "Delete All Data Runs."
For the Point Source
- Place the light source on the optics bench such that the notch on the bracket is aligned with 0 cm. The notch represents the location of the light bulb inside the light source box (see photo below).
