Your students become the experiments
Build an understanding of circulatory systems
Circulation
The Measuring Matters Teacher Resource Kit contains four activities related to understanding the circulatory system:
- Heart Throb
Measuring resting heart rate
- Target Zone
Finding a student's optimal heart rate during exercise
- Heart Fit
Measuring heart rate recovery time after exercise
- Extremity Remedy
Measuring the temperature of various points on the body
Give your students the chance to learn about human circulation systems by making the students the experiment. Use a Heart Rate Sensor to measure how heart rate responds to physical activity—and how different people have different responses.
Use Temperature Sensors to monitor temperature at different parts of the body to build an understanding of temperature variations—and make the discussion of circulation come to life.
Measuring Matters Teacher Resource Kit
Measuring Matters provides nine student investigations in the properties of matter and in basic physiological measurement. This series of standards- and inquiry-based lessons designed to present the scientific principles underlying pH, temperature, and heart rate through a variety of hands-on, minds-on activities.
Students use pH, Heart Rate and Temperature Sensors to learn the difference between an acid and a base, how exercise affects your heart rate, why different liquids boil at different temperatures and much more.
