Hydromania Water Science series
Inquiry-based, hands-on approach to water science
Our award-winning Hydromania series is a highly effective approach to the indepth study of water science. Through a series of hands-on investigations that integrate PASPORT probeware, students come to understand important concepts in science, how water quality is affected and how water can be treated. Both indoor/lab and field investigation activities included!
Volume I: Properties of Water
Students study key properties of water including capillary action, surface tension, hydrogen bonding and water's high specific heat capacity.
Volume II: Water Quality
Students learn to identify factors that affect water quality and use probeware to conduct water quality studies.
Volume III: Water Treatment
Students learn the various ways water can be treated to make it suitable for human consumption, including flocculation, filtration and disinfection. They'll also model typical water treatment processes in the classroom and evaluate their effectiveness.
What's a Teacher Resource Kit?
Each Teacher Resource Kit (TRK) is a collection of standards-based lessons with an inquiry focus designed to guide students and teachers through progressive exploration of key scientific themes. Each TRK is a combination of written and electronic materials organized to make it easy for you to plan, prepare and guide your students through innovative lessons incorporating sensor technology when and where appropriate.
