Chemistry Market Manager -- Roseville, CA

Position Summary:

The Chemistry Market Manager is one of a team of market managers responsible for PASCO's presence in the markets it serves. The Chemistry Market Manager will have primary responsibility for growing PASCO's chemistry education business worldwide. In addition, as a member of PASCO's market development team, the Chemistry Market Manager will collaborate with others to grow and maintain PASCO's overall market presence and results. The Chemistry Market Manager will work closely with PASCO's Product Managers, who are responsible for managing the successful development of new products through the PASCO R&D process. The Chemistry Market Manager will work closely with PASCO's sales channels and with customers and prospects, PASCO peers and other management on PASCO company planning and initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Define and execute an effective business plan for serving and growing the high school chemistry market for PASCO, including solutions portfolio definition, go-to-market plan, and ongoing customer relationship management. Implement and continuously refresh this plan. This includes:
    • Recognize current and emerging market opportunities in the segment and propose solutions to meet those needs either from PASCO's existing product/service portfolio or by defining new products and services. Work closely with Product Managers to create product proposals
    • Define a marketing strategy for the segment to grow PASCO's brand and positioning in the chemistry education market, appropriate shows, advertising, influencers, peer-to-peer network, etc
    • Develop and maintain an overall messaging strategy and develop marketing and sales tools for effectively representing the PASCO solution to the chemistry education market, including presentations, videos, product collateral, catalogs, web and electronic media, customer testimonials and positioning documents
    • Manage product launches to the chemistry education market. Work with Product Managers as needed to support the internal product development through internal launch
    • Develop and maintain professional contacts and relationships with key influencers in chemistry education specifically and in the education market as a whole
    • Develop and nurture a community of PASCO advocates
  • Serve as PASCO's primary spokesperson for the market segment
  • Support significant business segment sales opportunities in collaboration with PASCO sales channels
  • Project manage external and internal organizations as needed
  • Support the ongoing delivery of PASCO's company-level value proposition and positioning, while continuing to support and communicate the segment specific value proposition and positioning
  • Work collaboratively with segment management team, sales, and company management on PASCO business plan and annual budgets, including supporting segment performance goals
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree required (preferably in sciences) and a minimum of 5 years post-degree work experience is required
  • Depth of knowledge and competency in chemistry and science in general
  • Must have a true passion for education and specifically science education
  • Solid understanding of the education market from a business, political and social perspective, and from a classroom (teaching and learning) perspective
  • Understanding of pedagogical approaches, trends, and debates
  • Excellent presentation skills, writing and editing ability, interpersonal and communication skills; strong influence and persuasive skills
  • Proven technology literacy
  • Ability to actively listen
  • Understanding of business management and business processes with demonstrated business analysis skills
  • Must be a self-starter, very highly organized, and able to multitask and manage/drive multiple simultaneous projects
  • Must be able to work across functional areas of the company, at all levels of the company and across companies or external organizations
  • Experience in both a classroom teaching position and business development experience in a for-profit business are highly desirable
  • Requires travel (approximately 15-20%)

Curriculum & Training Developer -- Roseville, CA

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Design and Development
    • Apply principles of learning, learning styles, and various instructional design approaches and processes to the learning of science content.
    • Select appropriate instructional strategies (e.g., inquiry, behavioral) using multimedia or print as necessary.
    • Conduct needs analysis and prepares clear learning objectives for the science curriculum. Identify users' needs, analyze and logically organize and transform complex science concepts into professionally designed, engaging, and effective instructional activities.
    • Develop instructional plan/design document for review and approval.
    • Develop content training materials including manuals, quick reference guides, instructional webinars, web-based tutorials and exercises.
    • Test and debug science activities for quality assurance. Ensure that all information is accurate, consistent, easy to understand, and well organized.
    • Proofread and edit own work and work of others to improve quality, readability, consistency and effectiveness of materials.
    • Contribute to the development of efficient processes for content development. Apply processes to own work.
    • Maintain expertise in the current middle school and high school science education markets, including pedagogy and approaches, competition, and opportunities.
    • With the design and production members of the group, develop and maintain a style guide for curriculum and professional development materials.
    • When necessary consult with SMEs and others to create instructor led, self-study, and online instructional content that effectively engages the learner.
  • Training and Professional Development
    • Design and deliver workshops in a classroom setting and webinar format.
    • Participate in the planning, and coordination of ongoing professional development based on educational research.
    • Present complex and newly developed lab activities.
    • Conduct lab demonstrations.
    • Encourage and support the development and implementation of innovative, effective instructional programs based on an inquiry approach to learning science.
    • Assist in planning of Summer Institutes and year-round workshops for PASCO scientific.
    • Participate in designing and developing a strategy to deliver the most effective blend of media for new professional development experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry
  • Two years related experience in instructional design, curriculum development and professional development for middle school and/or high school sciences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe FrameMaker. Able to work at an entry level in Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Flash.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Education Technology a plus, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing interactive instructional videos and podcasts a plus.

Sales Rep II -- New York

Duties and Responsibilities:

This New York based position will have multi-state responsibility for selling our products directly to educational end-users, including college, high school, and middle school markets. Call on existing and prospective customers in person and by phone, email and fax. Provide technical information and /or demonstrations of PASCO equipment, curriculum, software and over-all solutions for teachers and district level decision-makers. Required to attend trade shows, conferences and workshops. Must be comfortable with public speaking and giving presentations to large groups. Responsible for meeting revenue goals for the region.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS in science (physics, chemistry, biology), engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2+ year's technical sales experience with proven track record.
  • 35% overnight travel required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with teaching or selling in science education markets.

Software Engineer III -- Roseville, CA

Position Summary:

Based on input from educators and/or specification, author software solutions to support PASCO's growing suite of software products. Design, develop, and test software for use in secondary and higher science education. Analyze existing software products to plan and implement significant new functionality, while maximizing compatibility with earlier versions. Support existing products with investigation and problem resolution when needed. Work as part of a close-knit team to assure a high-level of integration and compatibility between, and cohesiveness within, software products. Apply experience in graphics, scientific/engineering data acquisition, numerical analysis, data communications, and user interface design to produce software offering high technical capability with maximum ease-of-use. Develop in-house test utilities in support of manufacturing processes when needed.

Qualifications:
  • BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Equivalent
  • Five to eight years of applicable design/development experience
  • Proficiency in C++ application development on Microsoft Windows platforms
Additional desired qualifications:
  • Prefer MS Degree
  • Experience in developing applications for science & engineering in secondary or higher-level educational uses
  • Application development experience on Macintosh platforms
  • Strong experience in graphics, laboratory science, data acquisition, numerical analysis, data acquisition, and user-interface design
