PASCO and WeatherBug Schools Network
PASCO is proud to partner with The WeatherBug Schools Network for the goal of expanding student knowledge of weather and it's causes in schools across the country.
What is the WeatherBug Schools Network?
The WeatherBug Schools Network is the largest weather network in the world. More than 8,000 schools across the U. S. operate scientific-grade weather stations and cameras and integrate real-time, local weather data and technology into the classroom. The WeatherBug Schools Program provides schools with web-based teaching tools that automatically embed live weather readings and images into interactive tools and lessons. WeatherBug schools are also a source of data and imagery for more than 80 TV stations across the country, including all the major networks.
Continuing this tradition, WeatherBug Schools and PASCO partnered to integrate live weather information from the WeatherBug Schools Network with My World GIS. The integration enables students to download real-time weather information from the WeatherBug Network, organize it spatially by placing it on a map and relate it to regional and local data in My World GIS. As a result, students and teachers can develop an understanding of the very dynamic nature of weather systems and the many variables that influence weather—such as latitude, longitude, altitude, time of year, pressure, ocean currents, geologic features, and more.
